Hi! I'm Elen and I am the Fundraising and Communication Coordinator at Orchestras for All.

Orchestras for All (OFA) is a National Youth Music Organisation that exists to create inclusive group music-making opportunities for young people who would otherwise be excluded. Over the past 10 years, OFA has developed three innovative programmes to break down significant barriers to orchestral music making for young people in the UK. They know that music making boosts young people’s skills and enriches their lives forever. That’s why they wholeheartedly believe that orchestras are FOR ALL.

I first joined OFA in 2018 as a member of National Orchestra For All, before becoming an Ambassador, then Youth Leadership Coordinator, and now Fundraising and Communications Coordinator. OFA has been a huge part of my life for many years so it only feels right to take on this Grade2athon challenge in support of their work.

When I was eight, I was given the chance to take part in free music lessons. I didn’t know what any of the instruments were, so I asked my mum to pick… and now I have a degree in cello playing! This time, though, I’m stepping outside my comfort zone and picking up the guitar for the first time.

My journey through music education has shown me first-hand how inaccessible the music industry can be. Growing up in a small, working-class seaside town in the north and navigating physical and mental health challenges, I often felt that the music world simply wasn’t made for people like me. These experiences have made me all the more passionate about OFA's mission.

By supporting my Grade2athon challenge, you’ll be helping OFA continue their life-changing work, ensuring that more young people like me can experience the joy, confidence and belonging that music-making can bring.

Thank you so much for your support 💛
